The Emperor's New Clothes

Everyone knows the classic story of The Emperor's New Clothes & John the Great now re-tells this tale using magic.

Dippy Duck (Christmas)

The duck in John the Great's hand, magically moves its neck towards a deck of cards, opening its beak and seizing one card from the box. Guess what? The card it picks is the one chosen by the spectator!

The Magic Candy Tube (Christmas)

John the Great takes a clear tube and shows it to his audience. It is empty. John the Great then covers it and adds two pieces of candy. Miraculously when John the Great uncovers the tube again, the pieces of candy have multiplied and filled the entire container.

Hickery, Dickery Dock (Christmas)

‘Hickory Dickory Dock, The mouse ran up the clock. The clock struck one; The mouse ran down, Hickory Dickory Dock!’

The Traffic Light Trick (Christmas)

Three balls resembling the colours of traffic signal lights are placed in a cylinder one by one. When the cylinder is removed, the balls are seen jumped from one position to another!

The Magic Watering Can (Christmas)

John the Great fills a watering can with some water before turning it upside down over his assistant's head.

Cyril the Magic Sealion

John the Great doesn't do many card tricks but when he does, you can guarantee you will always have a good laugh. In this particular trick, Cyril the Magic Sealion finds the spectator's card.

The Colour Changing Silks (Christmas)

A black silk turns into a white silk & a white silk turns into a black silk. The process is then reversed before the black silk appears with white spots & the white silk appears with black spots.

The Mixed-Up Santa

A large frame is shown, the front of which has four slots, each containing part of a picture. The four pieces in the slots make up a whole picture of Santa Clause. The frame is turned round and the four pieces are removed and then mixed up. A spectator is asked the name where the various pieces should be placed in the slots. When the picture is turned round, the picture is all jumbled-up. Removing the pieces once again, John the Great uses a bit of magic before asking the spectator to have another go at naming where the various pieces should be placed in the slots. The picture is then turned round and the magic has worked because the picture has finally been assembled in the correct order.
